Master of Nursing Science (OPTION: MEDICO-SURGICAL NURSING)

Degree to be obtained: Master of Nursing Science (MNSc)

Specialization: Medical-Surgical Nursing (Adult Health)

Duration: Two Academic years (Four Semesters)

Vision: To reinforce nursing as a practice discipline by organizing and applying relevant knowledge from physical, biological, behavioral, social, and medical sciences for patient and client care, emphasizing the scientific basis of nursing.

Objectives: Graduates will identify and solve patient problems, systematically plan and adjust care processes, and use research-based problem-solving approaches in clinical settings.

Admission requirements: Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing Science, Bachelor of Science Nursing, or B. Tech Nursing with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.

Graduation requirements: Students must complete a minimum of two academic years, earning 132 credits and completing 1320 learning and contact hours.

Employment opportunities: Graduates can work in public and private hospitals, schools, nursing homes, rural community health facilities, and contribute to reducing the acute shortage of teaching staff in health facilities.

MASTER OF NURSING SCIENCE (OPTION: CRITICAL CARE)

Degree to be obtained: Master of Nursing Science (MNSc)

Specialization: Critical Care (Intensive Care)

Duration: Two Academic years (Four Semesters)

Vision: This new and exciting program will enable a registered nurse with some critical care experience to understand and consolidate the precise nature of critical care nursing.

Objectives: At the end of the programme the students will understand the concept and practice of critical care as it occurs throughout the world. Scientific knowledge and research are foremost, and students will appraise leading sources of critical-care-related knowledge. The student will consistently learn about the abnormal physiology and deranged data that predicts the patient's transition to being critically ill.

Admission Requirements: Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing Science, Bachelor of Science Nursing, or B.Tech Nursing, and 2 years of experience in a clinical setting.

Graduation Requirements: All aspects of the programme are compulsory. The total number of credits to be earned are 120 with a total of 2360 learning and contact hours.

Employment opportunities: Graduating students will be able to work in public, independent, and private hospitals, including pre-hospital, emergency, and ICU settings. They will lead in critical care delivery, advanced practice, and management roles within Cameroon and beyond.

MASTER OF NURSING SCIENCE (OPTION: ANAESTHESIA)

Degree Offered: Master in Nursing Science

Specialty: Anaesthesia

Duration of Studies: Two years (four semesters)

Vision: The program aims to establish a respectful and supportive learning environment for trainees, building the knowledge and skills needed to provide excellent patient care. Graduates will be empathetic leaders in the field, advancing healthcare through education, research, and leadership in anaesthesia practices.

Objectives: Students will receive comprehensive clinical and educational training, equipping them with the skills to excel in peri-operative patient care, anaesthesia delivery, and future research and leadership roles.

Admission Requirements: Bachelor of Nursing Science, B.Tech Nursing, and 2 years of experience in a clinical setting.

Graduation Requirements: All aspects of the programme are compulsory. The total number of credits to be earned is 180, with a total of 3000 learning and contact hours.

Employment opportunities: Graduates will work in public, private hospitals, pre-hospital, and ICU settings, advancing anaesthesia delivery and taking on leadership roles.
