Specialization: Community Health or Epidemiology
Duration: Two Academic years (Four Semesters)
Vision: With new health challenges emerging daily, the vision of this program is to ensure individuals trained can be accountable and responsible for assuring the health of the population. By setting up a framework that safeguards and improves the public’s health and the health of communities we serve, including rural, underserved, and global populations through education, research, outreach, service, and creative partnership.
Objectives: At the end of the programme, our students should develop practical aspects of solving public health challenges by focusing on skill-building.
Admission requirements: Applicants must meet the prerequisites for admission as stipulated by the programme and the University of Bamenda. That includes MDs or holders of first degrees in various health, science, and social science domains.
Graduation requirements: Every activity in the programme is compulsory. A minimum of two academic years is required, and students must earn a total of 120 credits, with 1500 learning and contact hours.
Employment opportunities: The field of public health is of high importance today, focusing on health at a population/community level. Persons trained in public health are in high demand globally and are generally part of both public and private, profit and non-profit health care organizations. They help in the prevention and fight against outbreaks of diseases and work at national and international levels in policymaking and implementation.
